For the latest period I’ve been quite busy honing my drawing skills after a lot of my dearest and closest people saw a big opportunity in this for me. Some of them even said that I could reach the level of some of the late and great European illustrators, which of course was incredibly inspiring to hear.
A few people also told me I should start putting these illustrations on clothing, which I’m currently working on and hopefully still want to get done this year. At the same time I’ve been looking more into the French, Belgian and Spanish markets and seeing where this kind of illustration could fit.
With the latest works I tried to go as broad as I could while still keeping my own colour schemes, visual language and the kind of fantasy characters I love. I’ve always been obsessed with strange characters living in weird urban worlds, especially the kind of settings I grew up seeing in games, comics and animation.
In the latest update you’ll see inspiration from things like 2000s hoverboard games, Spider-Man comic covers โ I’m a huge McFarlane fan โ but also more of a focus on creating original characters of my own. I want to get deeper into designing characters that make people curious about who they are, what their story is, or that you just immediately fall in love with because of their design.
I want to keep combining that with animals, creatures, monsters and just very cool people living in worlds that only our imagination can think of. I think that’s where I’m having the most fun with illustration right now: creating something that feels familiar because of all those influences I grew up with, while still trying to turn it into my own world.
There’s more to come in terms of clothing, new sticker designs and also more photography projects. Things will be on a little bit of a pause soon since I’m going on vacation to Greece, and after that I’ll be starting my new jobs at the museum and the zoo.
But honestly, that can only mean more and more inspiration for me.
